Baby showers are becoming increasingly fashionable in the UK following their long-standing popularity in the USA. They are traditionally thrown before the birth of a new baby, for the mum-to-be and generally it is only women that attend. Baby showers were held so that women could share their own wisdom of becoming a mother.

These days, baby showers are much more of an excuse to get together to celebrate the upcoming arrival of a new baby than anything else. Gifts are generally given and our nappy cakes will make a wonderful gift and/or centrepiece at a baby shower. They can be given at the start of a baby shower or saved until later and brought out as a surprise for the mum-to-be!

Two Months before the Event

Set the date
Create a guest list / decide on the number of guests
Decide on a venue – at home, a restaurant or a hotel
Will you be having food, do you need to book at the venue or will you be preparing your own at home?
Plan a menu
Decide on your invitations and send them out

3 Weeks before the Event

Order a cake if you’re having one
Make final decisions on your menu
Do you need any decorations for your venue? Balloons, flowers, tableware?
Depending on the venue you may need to order tableware (plates and cutlery etc.)
Will you be having activities? Baby themed quizzes might make a fun game
Will you need any prizes if you’re having games?

1 Week before the Event

Finalise guest numbers
Do you need any background music?
If desired, prepare printed menu cards

1 Day before the Event

Collect any food/beverages/balloons etc.
Make sure your camera/video camera is fully charged to capture the day
Wrap any gifts (your nappy cake will be delivered beautifully wrapped & ribboned)
Pick up the cake if you are having one

On the Day of the Event

Decorate the venue
Prepare tables with decorations/tableware/flowers
Prepare area to display gifts (your nappy cake will make a gorgeous centrepiece)
More than anything make sure you have a fabulous time!
